AWS Migration

The Challenge
Migrating a Windows Terminal Server to AWS
Multisteps was running a Windows Terminal Server on-premises to support their remote workforce. However, they were facing challenges with the maintenance and scalability of their on-premises infrastructure, and wanted to explore the option of migrating their terminal server to the cloud. After evaluating various cloud providers, they chose to work with us to migrate their terminal server to AWS. In this blog post, we’ll share the approach we took and the benefits the client experienced as a result of the migration.
The Solution
To automate the migration process and ensure consistency, we used a combination of Packer, Ansible and Terraform to configure and deploy the terminal server on AWS. This allowed us to easily replicate the client’s current setup and manage the infrastructure as code.
We also used Kubernetes to containerize their custom solutions running on EKS and make them more portable and scalable. This allowed us to easily deploy and manage the applications on AWS.
Once the migration was complete, we helped the client set up monitoring and backup solutions to ensure the reliability and availability of their terminal server on AWS.
